GINKGO BILOBA - THE BRAIN TONIC THAT REVITALISES
MIND, BODY AND SENSES.
It's the oldest tree on this planet, and the toughest. The
Ginkgo biloba's unbelievably efficient immune system has
enabled it to weather 200 million years of earth-shaking
changes without loss of strength or vigour. It's the ultimate
survivor, one that today presents potent new options to
countless millions around the world.
INCREASED
FLOW OF OXYGEN
Today, Ginkgo biloba is the focus of intensive research
in Europe and the USA, and exciting reports continue to
accumulate, indicating that Ginkgo extract could help to
maintain healthy peripheral circulation and the flow of
blood to the brain, the lower limbs and all the arteries,
veins and capillaries. The blood carries oxygen and nutrients
such as glucose which are essential. Studies show that the
increased flow of oxygen to the brain increases the brain
cells' work capacity.
ALZHEIMER'S
DISEASE
Increased blood flow to the brain could be helpful during
the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease, also in encouraging
quicker recovery from stroke, improving mental function
and memory (particularly if age-related), and as a help
in preventing heart attacks.
Since
1975 over 30 human studies have shown that Ginkgo biloba
can increase the body's production of adenosine triphosphate
(ATP). This activity is known to boost the brain's energy
metabolism of glucose and increase electrical activity.
BOOSTS
IMMUNITY
Ginkgo biloba contains the antioxidants Vitamin-C and carotenoids,
but it is the action of the flavenoid compounds known as
ginkgolides that is particularly impressive. These flavenoids
enhance the immune system and can inhibit the formation
of tumours. They help to dilate the micro-capillaries, with
a wide effect on the organs, especially the brain, and increase
the oxygen levels in the brain tissues.
As
an important antioxidant, Ginkgo biloba also acts to prevent
red blood cells from clotting and by improving the circulation,
helps to keep the arteries flexible, so decreasing the development
of plaque. In Germany, Ginkgo biloba is extremely popular
as a treatment for circulatory disorders, oxygen deprivation,
and age-related deficits of mental function. It is seen
as an effective, inexpensive and non-toxic treatment.
BETTER
HEARING, VISION & BALANCE
An improved circulation that works efficiently to carry
oxygen and nutrients to the rest of the body can do much
to revive waning vision and hearing.
Researchers
endorse Ginkgo's help in cases of chronic tinnitus (ringing
in the ears), one form of age-related hearing loss, including
night vision, and vertigo (dizziness). As balance improved,
sufferers appeared to move more purposefully and to act
with greater alertness.
LEG
CRAMPS
When cholesterol deposits narrow the arteries in the legs,
the result is a painful condition known as intermittent
claudication (cramping of the legs). Ginkgo's antioxidant
action has been observed to facilitate easier movement.
IMPOTENCE
Ginkgo also appears to offer benefits to those experiencing
erection impairment, as it increases blood flow to the penis.
It also appears to act on the brain to encourage relaxing
Alpha rhythms, leading to improved sleep patterns, more
cheerful spirits, increased energy, fewer headaches and
moods of depression. It eases PMS discomforts and has proved
helpful in cases of liver fibrosis associated with Hepatitis
B.
Note:
As Ginkgo biloba acts to thin the blood, it should not be
used in conjunction with aspirin or other blood thinners.
Non-toxic, non-addictive and tannin-free, Ginkgo biloba
is safe even when used in high dosage. However, very large
amounts may cause minor stomach upsets. As research to date
is not yet available on the use of Ginkgo biloba during
pregnancy or lactation, its use in such cases cannot be
advised.
