SAW PALMETTO - SAFE, NON-TOXIC HELP FOR PROSTATE
ENLARGEMENT
Native to the Florida peninsula of South East America, the
dark red berries of the Saw Palmetto palm tree contain a
volatile oil, fixed oil, glucose, about 63% fatty acids
and 37% ethyl esters of these acids.
NATURAL
HORMONES
Rich in natural hormones, they have a toning and soothing
effect on the mucus membranes, in easing the symptoms of
colds, asthma and bronchitis, as well as urinary and reproductive
diseases and uterine infections.
THE
PROSTATE GLAND
The prostate gland is the most vulnerable part of a man's
body. As men age, this gland often grows larger, sometimes
to the point where it obstructs the free flow of urine,
making it increasingly difficult to empty the bladder.
SELF
HELP
The most common treatment for prostate disease is the surgical
removal of the gland. In Europe and the USA, however, Saw
Palmetto (Serenoa repens) is a widely popular natural treatment
for enlarged prostate, due to the ease of self-medication.
Clinical studies support the efficacy of Saw Palmetto to
aid in shrinking the prostate, thereby promoting the free
flow of urine. It has also been proved helpful in relieving
the major symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH),
including increased night-time urination. According to reports,
nearly 90% of prostate sufferers experience noticeable results
within 4 to 6 weeks - with no toxicity or side effects.
DIHYDROTESTOSTERONE
(DHT)
The active constituents of Saw Palmetto act as a diuretic
(promoting urination) and urinary antiseptic. They also
inhibit the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a naturally
occurring hormone that contributes to the enlargement of
the prostate. Saw Palmetto is an excellent tissue builder,
diuretic, sedative, and a general tonic to nourish the body.
For men, besides easing inflammation of the prostate, it
can also be useful in dealing with atrophy of the testes,
low libido and impotence.
PRE-ORGASMIC
Although the benefits of Saw Palmetto are of a predominantly
male focus, this versatile plant has also proved extremely
useful in treating female reproductive concerns. These range
from pre-orgasmic functional problems, under-development
of the breasts, and infertility. It can help to increase
the supply of mother's milk, reduce unwanted hair on the
face and body, and relieve painful periods associated with
poor uterine tone. It has also been used traditionally since
the 1700's as an aphrodisiac for both men and women. Saw
Palmetto is also thought to be effective in preventing teenage
acne caused by fluctuating hormone levels.
LONG
TERM
It is generally agreed that the most satisfactory results
are experienced when approximately 320mg standardised Saw
Palmetto Extract (containing 85-95% sterols and lipids)
are taken daily.
Note:
It is important to bear in mind that although Saw Palmetto
has been proven to help in cases of benign prostate enlargement,
no cancerous enlargement can be shrunk with Saw Palmetto.
Self-medication with Saw Palmetto Extract should only be
undertaken with medical approval after Prostate Specific
Antigen (PSA) based tests have been carried out, thus reducing
the chance of Saw Palmetto Extract masking potential prostate
cancer.
